A Simple Irish Prayer

It is not easy being a highly sensitive and intuitive being. I absorb everyone’s emotions and physical pain that I encounter, both good and bad. Lately, it seems the whole world around me is suffering from some form of illness, heartache, sadness and sorrow due to the loss of loved ones, depression, and so much more. Today, I woke up feeling tired, sad, and drained. And at that moment, I knew that I needed some solitude to recharge and relax. So instead of working, I went for a nature walk, watered and nurtured my plants and flowers, practiced yoga, burned some white candles, and listened to healing operatic music to detox my body from all that I have absorbed. I am so driven to help make everyone else’s life around me better that I often get a little carried away by giving too much without thinking of myself first. Sound familiar? Meditating under the sun first thing in the morning energizes me.

What comes to mind for you when you think of summertime? An exotic Mediterranean holiday or a backyard picnic with friends, perhaps? Or long weekends at the beach and late-night dining outside to enjoy the summer breeze? While all these things sound oh so wonderful, I believe that too many of us still squeeze so much into our sunshine-filled, warm weather days that we forget to stop and take the time to rejuvenate and appreciate the simple gifts that life has to offer.
