The heart knows.
The heart knows.

You may be hearing the word “chakra” more and more these days as people are more open to holistic ways of improving health and well being, but the concept of chakras goes back for centuries.  The root chakra, associated with the color red, is known as the first chakra or “Muladhara.”  According to multiple sources, Mula means “root” and Adhara means “support” or “base.”  The element of this chakra is earth, and it is located at the base of the spine. This is where our grounding is, and building a solid foundation is essential to supporting our growth and everything else that we will do in life.

Just like a plant, the deeper and stronger our root, the more we will be able to endure challenges, struggles, hardships, and withstand rain or storm. When this chakra is open and balanced, we feel secure and stable in life, our bodies feel healthy and our minds clear and alert. We feel confident in who we are and are able to manifest our visions and dreams easily. I think that is why this particular chakra resonates so much with me.

To keep this chakra open and healthy, I like to have the presence of the color red around me, and to keep up my regular yoga routine, goddess walks, and dancing activities. How is your root chakra? Need a check up? Come by the sanctuary and I will help you find out. xo
