Leigh, Ryann, and I with Chef Tony.

I was at Richa Badami‘s Pause for Power luncheon recently at The Tower Club and met Chef Tony’s of Bethesda there.  The minute he mentioned the word chef and Mediterranean food, my eyes lit up.  We know how much I love food, especially Mediterranean inspired dishes, so I decided to try his cooking out for myself.

My team and I gave Tony a visit for a private, personalized lunch. And, well, let’s just say it was not disappointing.  Not only is Chef Tony friendly and personable, but he obviously has a passion for what he does.  You can just tell by tasting his cooking and also by listening to how enthusiastic he is when talking about his dishes. If you are looking for a high-end restaurant with fancy decor and ambience, this is not the place to be.  But if you are looking for some good fresh seafood and Mediterranean cuisine prepared in a healthy-hearty way, then you will like the casual atmosphere of this restaurant.

Chef Tony is very down to earth.  There’s no pretense with him.  What you see is what you get.  In my honest opinion, the restaurant could use some of the Polished by tu-anh touch, but the food is wonderful.  If you have not been there, I would check it out.  They even have a little side hallway area that is very intimate for a sweet quiet couple’s dinner.  I for sure will come back to the restaurant soon with a bigger group so I get to taste the rest of the menu. 🙂

If you have been to Chef Tony’s place already, I’d love to hear about your experience.

xoxo, tu-anh
